Mission Statement

The Young Dancer Workshop of North Central Florida (YDW) provides young dancers (ages 11-18) in the region an opportunity to experience a multitude of dance styles,  perform, and connect with other dance enthusiasts. YDW allows participants to deepen their relationship with dance as a possible career pursuit and experience training through the lens of academia and dance professionalism. YDW students will receive professional training, offered by a wide range of professional dance artists, and be immersed in the different forms, styles, and influences of dance. Movement styles will range and be inclusive of many different forms such as historical, cultural, artistic, and somatic.

Since 2001, the Young Dancer Workshop has been the lynchpin of the Florida dance community and remains committed to being a gathering space for Florida dance artists, educators, and enthusiasts to come together.  Being centrally located, and having the support of Santa Fe College and the University of Florida, we are uniquely positioned to carry this tradition forward as a training ground and community networking opportunity for the future of all involved.

A priority of the workshop is to open the door to Dancers, who may not have had the advantage of exposure to this level of training and performance opportunity, will have access at a modest price.

The Young Dancer Workshop of N. Central Fl. fosters a supportive and nurturing environment, and encourages a positive atmosphere to catapult the next generation of dancers forward with confidence and passion.
